IDEAS & INSPIRATION

Hello, my name is Linda McDonald and I am a graduate of the Mira Costa College (Oceanside CA) Landscape Architect program.  I pride myself on being very in tune to my clients needs and spend several hours with them discussing what I do, how I do it, what I charge, who does what, etc. to make sure they get the best possible landscape plan and one they will enjoy for years to come.

I am proficient in utilizing computer software "CAD" which enables me to get very "high tech" with your design, and making changes is much quicker.  My goal in designing your landscape is to create a "living" room for you to enjoy.  I strive for functionality as well as aesthetics in all my designs, encompassing water efficiency, minimizing lawn and utilizing drought tolerant plants as much as possible, what you may have heard is called "xeriscaping".   I help educate my clients on care of plants and am always available long after the design has been installed to help if needed.  Every client is unique and so are your desires, I don't do a "one size fits all" landscape EVER!  Serving Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Vista, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Oceanside, and all other areas of Riverside and San Diego Counties here in Southern California since 2007.

A Recent Project...

This is a "before" photo of a recent project, over 3,000 square feet, located in Oceanside.  This couple removed all their lawn, so were getting a nice rebate from the water district, hired me to create a "unique landscape design" for them and the results are below.  The owners are doing the work themselves, so I will be helping them with irrigation and plant selection or any problems that arise until its completed.

This is a "3D" perspective view of the landscape that I created utilizing state of the art CAD software.  These clients are going to be re-doing the house as well, so I painted it and added other details so they could see what it will look like when completely finished. They will receive a complete plant list stating size of plants, varieties etc. from me as well as the "2D" plan which is drawn to scale and used to do the actual installation from.

This is the side of the house where Mrs. Galindo told me she wanted a relaxing "private" garden where she could just sit on a bench and enjoy nature, we needed a pathway going from the front of the house through this area to the back - which will be the next project!

And this is the "2D" plan that is given to the homeowner and/or contractor to actually implement the design into the above landscape.  This particular plan ended up being approx. 28x36" as I also added the "Plant Legend" directly onto this plan, easier to see what each symbol represents that way.

MY GOALS:

My goal in designing your landscape is to create a "living" room for you to enjoy.  I strive for functionality as well as aesthetics in all my designs, encompassing water efficiency, minimizing lawn when possible, and utilizing drought tolerant plants as much as possible. Just as each client is unique, so are their desires, I respect that, and enjoy the challenges with each new project.  I want you to LOVE your new landscape.   I am a graduate of Mira Costa College Landscape Architect Program.

WHAT I DO:

I will meet with you at your home and discuss what you desire as well as make  recommendations - measure the site - sign a contract with you - then start the actual designing of your landscape.  I will email these to you, a "preliminary plan" for approval and make changes as necessary.  You will give the "final plan" to a contractor who will then install the landscaping.  Serving all of SW Riverside County and North San Diego County.
